Read More	LARSON, DONALD DALE—Donald Dale Larson was born in the family farmhouse east of Geneva on June 1, 1912, to Arthur William Larson and Effie Arvilla Danielson Larson. Don was the oldest of four children. He lived in Geneva for his entire life, except for 10 years in York. He passed away on June 16, 2006 at Heritage Crossings at the age of 94. Don attended country schools through the eighth grade. He graduated from Geneva High School in 1930. After high school, he moved back to the family farm east of town, where he farmed for 50 years until his retirement in 1980. As a young farmer, he worked for a threshing crew that worked the harvests. He loved to tell of his trip to Chicago in a Model T Ford with his friend, Revilo Wilson. In 1938, a pretty brown-eyed Scots-Irish girl named Jean Bruce caught the eye of this tall, handsome Swede. Don and Jean were married on August 20, 1939. Three children were born to this union—Richard Lee, Dianne Kay and Larry Donn. Don and Jean were married for 53 loving years, until Jean’s passing in 1993. Don was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Geneva for many years. For over 70 years, don was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and had been active in the local Grange chapter. After retirement, he helped with the elementary school reading program and he and Jean were volunteers with Meals on Wheels. Don and Jean always enjoyed dancing. They regularly went to Utica, where they joined their many friends and danced the night away. Don loved to plan trips and he and Jean enjoyed trips to California, Hawaii, Boston, and Canada to name a few. In 1995, Don moved to York to be near his son, Larry, and family. In August of 2005, he moved to Heritage Crossings in Geneva. He recently celebrated his 94th birthday with his family. He will be remembered as a kind, thoughtful, loving husband, and father. He was a perceptive man with a subtle but quick wit; he often surprised us with a chuckle and a sparkle in his eye. Don had a quiet strength and a humble nature and was a true gentleman. Don is survived by his daughter, Diane Fraser and husband, Don, his son Larry and wife Mary; grandchildren, Kevin Larson and wife, Brittany, Alicia (Larson) Micek and husband, Aaron, Kristen Knight and husband, Sean, Aimee Wagner and husband Martin, Andrea Heckert and Kara Heckert; great-grandchildren, Rowan and Charlie Knight and Callie Larson; sister, Bette Gratopp and husband, Stuart, sister Arlene Souba, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Jean, his son, Richard (Dick) and his brother, Eugene. Funeral services were conducted from the First Congregational United Church of Christ on Friday, June 23, with Rev. Lynn Strandt officiating. Nancy Cradduck accompanied Delwin Myers who sang “Amazing Grace,” “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Green, Green Grass of Home.” Casket bearers were Robert and Dale Nunns, Kenneth Lefever, Vaden, Kurt and Kent Myers.
