Barabara Ann Gansel, daughter of Carl T. Gansel Sr., and Rae Clare Wetzel Gansel, was born Dec. 26, 1899, in Fairmont, Minn. She was graduated from the College of Emporia in 1921, and Aug. 8, 1928, she married William T. Brooks in Independence. "Ted" Brooks died Dec. 28, 1959. Mrs. Brooks was a member of the First Congregational Church and the Nellie Storrs Circle of the Women's Fellowship. She also was a member of the Altrusa Club, Emporia garden clubs, and the Newman Hospital Auxiliary. Survivors include one son, William T. Brooks of Belen, N.M.; one brother, Carl T. Gansel Jr. of Brevard, N. C.; two sisters, Eda F. Gansel of Independence, and Rachel E. Pipkin of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Amy, Ted, and Barbi Brooks, Cynthia Richards and Libby Brown, and on great grandchild.
