Description	:	OBITUARY: The Pocahontas Democrat, Pocahontas, Iowa, Thursday, 27 Nov 1924, pg.1 Barbara Dousha, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Dousha, was born at Caslav, Austria, Feb. 5, 1836, was united in marriage to Anton Smrkovsky in 1856. Mr. and Mrs. Anton Smrkovski and five children came to America in 1867 and settled at Chatsworth, Ill. They lived there two years then returned to Austria and remained there a short time, then returned to Chatsworth, Ill. Mr. and Mrs. Smrkovski moved to Iowa in 1872 and settled on a farm near Pomeroy. Mr. and Mrs. Anton Smrkovski and five children came to America in 1867 and settled at Chatsworth, Ill. They lived there two years then returned to Austria and remained there a short time, then returned to Chatsworth, Ill. Mr. and Mrs. Smrkovski moved to Iowa in 1872 and settled on a farm near Pomeroy. To this union seven children were born. Her husband proceeded her in death May 27, 1881. She leaves to mourn her sudden departure her four sons, Anton of Pocahontas, John, Joe and Frank of Pomeroy. Three daughters, Mrs. Anna Beneke, Mrs. Dorma Peters and Mrs. Sophia Klen and Mrs. Mary Kemmer of Pocahontas. After an illness of short duration, Mrs. Barbara Smrkovski died Nov. 18, 1924, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Kleen, where she had made her home the past two years. At the time of her death she reached the age of 88 years, 9 months and 13 days. The funeral was held at Sacred Heart church Friday morning at 9:30. A Solemn High Mass was said by Rev. A. J. Wagener, assisted by Rev. Neppel of Ashton, Rev. Kolvec of Pocahontas and Rev. Neppel of Pomeroy. Interment was made in Calvary cemetery. The pallbearers being all grandsons of the deceased were, Rudolph Beneke, John Kemmer, Jas Smrkovski, G. F. Peters, Anton and Joseph Kleen. She also leaves to mourn her loss twenty-four grandchildren and forty-eight great grand children.
