Interment was in Calvary cemetery. Donna Smrkovsky Peters was born June 15, 1868, at Chatsworth, Ill. She was the daughter of Anton and Barbara Smrkovsky, who had come from Czechoslovakia to make their home. When she was still an infant her parents returned to their native land with the intention of making their home there. However they remained only three weeks. They returned to Chatsworth and the following year they moved to a farm near Pomeroy where Mrs. Peters grew to womanhood. On Jan. 31, 1891, she was united in marriage to George Peters and they established their home on a farm near Pomeroy where they lived for 5 years. Then they moved to a farm in Cummins township near Havelock, where they resided until 1919, when they moved to Pocahontas. They remained in Pocahontas only one year and in 1920 they moved to Pocahontas again and located in their present home. Mrs. Peters was a lifelong member of the Catholic church, having been baptized in Czechoslovakia. During her long illness she was always cheerful and enjoyed to the utmost the visits of her family and friends. Besides her husband she is survived by four sons, G. F., Anton and John of Pocahontas and Joe of Council Bluffs, and one daughter, Mrs. R. M. Love of Pocahontas. One daughter, Mrs. L. L. Kopriva preceded her in death. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Sophia Kleen of Pocahontas, and one brother, Frank Smrkovsky of Pomeroy. Transcribed by Teresa Davis
