Description	:	Note: four children of Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder died as infants/young children - their exact burial locations are not known, but it is likely that they were all buried in Old Fairfield City cemetery, probably in the same plot where Barbara was eventually buried. Memorials have been made for them accordingly, but with that caution. Cemetery records were not always kept as well as we would have liked, but these memorials are being made in good faith pending any clarification otherwise. SCHROEDER DIED HERE TODAY After Illness of Some Time; Funeral Arrangements Await Relatives Mrs. Herbert Schroeder passed away this morning at 2"30 o'clock at her home, 510 South Depot street after being in a critical condition for several weeks. Funeral arrangements will not be completed until word is received from relativesat a distance. Mrs. Schoreder was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brewington and she was born near (sic. not necessarily in Keosauqua) Keosauqua Nov. 11, 1881. She is survived by her husband and three children: Paul at Annapolis, Md., Everett of Honolulu and Dora at home. She leaves the following brothers and sister: Arthur Brewington of Des Moines, Mrs. Ballinger of Oskaloosa, Thomas Brewington of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Earl Strean and Boyd Brewington of Brookpark, Minn. (sic), Stanley Brewington, Mrs. Roy Dickinson and Mrs. George Barker of this city, also an uncle William Brewington of this city. --------------- Fairfield Daily Ledger July 2, 1928 Pg. 3 Col. 3 OBITUARY Mrs. H. W. Schroeder Barbara Ellen Schroeder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brewington, was born November 11, 1881 and passed away at her home510 South Depot street June 28, 1928, at the age of forty-six years, seven months and seventeen days. At the age of ten years she became a follower of Christ and was baptised in the Methodist church. She has been a faithful servant and a devoted wife and mother, spreading sunshine and cheer to all she met. Barbara Ellen Brewington was united in marriage to H. W. Schroeder, November 30, 1902. To this union eight children were born, five having passed away in infancy. Through her long sufferingshe was mindful of others especially her dear mother who she lost the first of this month. Her father having passed away five years ago. With the best that doctors could do, with the kind help of neighbors yet she suffered. Even to devotion of husband, daughter, sisters and brother could not keep her. It was for God in His own good way to take mercy on that pain racked body and call her soul to be with Him. No fear of death came to her, only the prayer that she might see her boys once again but unanswered prayers are answered in the more beautiful Home. Paul, the oldest in in Naval Training atAnnapolis and Everet (sic) isin Honolulu on a three months cruise also in Naval Training. Neither of the boys will get to come (sic. to the funeral/burial). Dora, the only daughter, gave up school and pleasures to aid her father H. W. Schroeder in caring for this patient and loving campanion (sic). The surviving sisters and brothers are Mrs. Mary Barker, Mrs. Roy Dickinson, Stanley Brewington all of Fairfield; Mrs. Ott Ballinger of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Ruby Strean and Boyd Brewington of Brookpark Minn. (sic), Arthur Brewington of Des Moines and Tom Brewington of Minneapolis. One uncle William Brewington of Fairfield. The pall bearers were: Frank Miler (sic), George Miler (sic), George Woolsey, Bill Woolsey, John Mcnelley, James Freshwater, Miler Hampton, James Bashan. Mrs. Frank Pierson and Mrs. Arthur Greef sang.
