Barbara Estella Klever was born March 6, 1875, in Johnson County and died in Marengo May 31, at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 25 days. On Sept. 12, 1894, she was united in marriage to John C. Klever. Her husband preceded her in death in December, 1943. She was one of 10 children of Anthony and Mary (Breu) Brehn Slager. Eight of her brothers and sisters preceded her in death. They were Frank, Joseph, Mary, William, John, and George Slager. Mrs. Lena Flochinger and Mrs. Kathryn Smith. Soon after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Klever became members of the Pilot Grove Methodist church. When she moved to Williamsburg she became associated with the St. Paul's Methodist church here. Mr. and Mrs. Klever were the parents of four children: Elvin, who died as a child; Floyd, now of Pilot Grove neighborhood; Ethel, now Mrs. Albert Kuch of Williamsburg, and Marjorie, now Mrs. Paul Marling of Chandlerville, Ill. Surviving are her three children; one sister, Mrs. Fred Klever of Williamsburg; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Those from out of town attending the service included Miss Clarice Marlin of Chandlerville, Ill., Mrs. Fred Klever and Mrs. Lloyd Klever of Exira, Mr. and Mrs. Elvey McWilliams of Thornburg, Mr. and Mrs. Truman Slager of Iowa City, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Slager, Mrs. Bob Meyer and Mrs. Paul Sperry of Cedar Rapids.
