Barbara Jean (Christiansen) Adamski, 68, died Friday, February 25, 1994, at a Sioux City hospital after a fall in her home. She had been ill for five years. Services were held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Sioux City, with Rev. Lawrence McCarty officiating. Burial was in the Odebolt Cemetery. Mrs. Adamski, the former Barbara Jean Christiansen, was born April 19, 1925, in Odebolt, Iowa. She lived in Odebolt, Sac City, Schaller, and Ida Grove, Iowa, before moving to Arthur, Iowa. She graduated from Arthur High School in 1944 and from Samuel Beauty School in Sioux City in 1945. She then worked as a cosmetologist in Ida Grove. On May 4, 1946, Barbara married Leonard Joseph Adamski in Arthur. She worked for two years in Sioux City as a cosmetologist. In 1952 she started working for Wincharger Corp. (later Zenith Corp.), where she was awarded a 25-year wristwatch for outstanding service. She then worked for Younkers Department Store as a salesclerk and department manager in the linen department for seven years. She retired about five years ago because of poor health. Mrs. Adamski was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and a past member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Sioux City. She was a life member of the DAV Chapter 54 Auxiliary and a past member of the Duane M. Nelson Post 1981, American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband; a son and his wife, Gordon L. and Sandra Adamski of Newburch, Indiana; a daughter and her husband, Suzanne M. and Paul Wermes of Sioux City; a brother, Royce Christiansen of Moorehead, Minnesota; four grandchildren: Angel Jackman of Moville, Iowa, Kristin Debban of San Diego, California, and Jennifer and Kristi Adamski of Newburgh; and two great-grandchildren, Lauren Jackman and Brody Debban. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Flora Susannah (Epperson) Christiansen; a brother, Norman Christiansen; and a infant brother Forrest Christiansen. Pallbearers were Brad Debban, Bob Beauchene, Armin Christiansen, Bob Mesmer, Bob Hinders, and Joe Hegenbart.
