Description	:	HOFFERBER, BARTHOLD BAT--Barthold Hofferber, one of eight children was born to Conrad and Marguerite Hofferber on February 2, 1907, at Geneva, and passed away on August 17, 1982, at Fillmore County hospital at the age of 75 years, six months and 15 days. Read More	HOFFERBER, BARTHOLD BAT--Barthold Hofferber, one of eight children was born to Conrad and Marguerite Hofferber on February 2, 1907, at Geneva, and passed away on August 17, 1982, at Fillmore County hospital at the age of 75 years, six months and 15 days. Barthold lived in the Bruning area and attended country school until the eighth grade when his family moved to a farm in the Geneva area. He attended Geneva high school, graduating with the class of 1925. After graduating, Barthold farmed in the Geneva area until his retirement in 1973. He was a long time member of the I.O.O.F. and served the lodge in several capacities. Barthold married Velma Butterbaugh on June 10, 1936, a union which lasted 46 years. Barthold and Velma had two children, Carolyn and James. As an infant, he was baptized in the Lutheran faith. With his wife, Velma, he transferred his membership to the United Methodist church when his children were baptized. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, Velma; daughter, Carolyn Borland of Cambridge; son, James of Bartlesville, Ok; four grandsons Christopher, Brian, Gregory and Bradley Borland; a brother, William; and sister, Lorene, both of Geneva; and numerous other relatives and friends. Services were held at the United Methodist church on August 20, 1982, with the Rev. Donald Marsh officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Norval Lomax, the organist, and Delwin Myers, the soloist. Pallbearers were Kenneth, Loren, Marvin and Donald Hofferber, William Eich and Charles Miller. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. Geneva I.O.O.F. No. 65 conducted the graveside service.
