Description	:	Basil Dinnel was born July 4, 1924 at the family home near Enders to Earl and Lorena (Browning) Dinnel. He began his education at Zell School and finished grade school at Pioneer School. He graduated from Chase County High School, and talked often of playing the trombone in the band. After graduation he began his life as a farmer near Enders. Basil was married to Helen Yost on Nov. 12, 1942 at her parents' home in rural Champion. He was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1945 and was stationed at Ft.... Read More	Basil Dinnel was born July 4, 1924 at the family home near Enders to Earl and Lorena (Browning) Dinnel. He began his education at Zell School and finished grade school at Pioneer School. He graduated from Chase County High School, and talked often of playing the trombone in the band. After graduation he began his life as a farmer near Enders. Basil was married to Helen Yost on Nov. 12, 1942 at her parents' home in rural Champion. He was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1945 and was stationed at Ft. Riley, KS and Ft. Knox, KY. After his discharge, Basil returned to farming. In addition to his commitment to farming, Basil was interested in his community and church. He served on the Chase County High School Board of Education and the Chase County Extension Board. As a member of the Wesleyan Church Board, he was instrumental in helping construct the present Wesleyan Church building. More than anything Basil enjoyed having his family around him. His 50th wedding anniversary was especially memorable because all of his children and grandchildren were present. He also loved attending any activity in which his children or grandchildren participated. Basil had many hobbies. He especially loved going to auctions. Recently, he was honored by being assigned bidder number 1 by Fanning Auction. He also enjoyed antique cars, wood working, fishing and deer and pheasant hunting outings with family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister. Basil accepted Christ as his personal saviour early in life. He was devoted to serving God. In his last hours of earthly life, he expressed his desire to meet his family in eternal life in Heaven. Basil passed away Aug. 22, 1999 at Imperial. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999 at 10:30 a.m. at the Wesleyan Church of Imperial, Imperial, Neb. Interment was at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial, Neb. with Liewer Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
