Description	:	Earl Walter Dinnel, son of Milton and Elvira Fletcher Dinnel, was born February 25, 1896, at Jamesport, Daviess County, Missouri, in a log cabin farm house between a church and what was known as the Scotland graveyard. He departed this life suddenly January 24, 1973, at 11:30 p.m. at his home northeast of Enders at the age of 76 years, 11 months. Earl succumbed from an apparent heart attack. At the age of nine months Earl moved with his family from Missouri to Chase County, Nebraska where he grew to manhood. He proudly entered into the service of his county on April 29, 1918. He received his basic training at Camp Funston, Kansas. His son, Basil and grandson, Duane, also took their training in the same camp which is now Fort Riley. He served overseas in the Battle of St. Mihiel and Muese Argonne Forest, also, with the army of occupation Company H, 355th Infantry, 89th Division for six months. He received an honorable discharge on June 3, 1919. After his discharge he resided in McCook where he was employed by the CB&Q Railroad. On June 9, 1920, he was united in marriage with Lorena Nancy Browning of Enders. They lived in McCook for two years and then moved to the Charlie Browning farm three miles east of Enders. To their home were born three children; one daughter and two sons. Earl spent the remainder of his life in Chase County. His lifetime occupation was farming in Chase County and in Phillips and Yuma Counties in Colorado. He loved the soil and took great pride in his farming. Earl was converted to Christ on September 4, 1932. He and his wife united in membership with the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Wauneta on April 2, 1934. They became charter members of the Wesleyan Church, then the Pilgrim Holiness Church, in Imperial on February 13, 1938, playing a great part in its establishment. Earl continued as a faithful member until his death. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, and two stepfathers, P.V. Willis and Jacob Nedrow, 10 brothers, and an infant daughter. Earl and Lorena celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary June 9, 1960, and their 50th wedding anniversary June 9, 1970. Earl was pleased to have all of his immediate family together this past Christmas. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and a loving and true friend. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and friends. Funeral services were held January 29 at the United Methodist Church in Imperial. Interment was at Mount Hope Cemetery near Imperial. Flag presentation was by WW I Veterans. Military Rights by VFW Post 4688. Creveling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
