Description	:	Basil Ivan Farver, one of six children of Allen Farver and Effie (Cornish) Farver, was born on a farm west of Nelson on September 2, 1916. He grew up on the farm and was educated from the Brown Country School, District #14. He lived with his parents in Wisconsin for one year as a boy. Read More	Basil Ivan Farver, one of six children of Allen Farver and Effie (Cornish) Farver, was born on a farm west of Nelson on September 2, 1916. He grew up on the farm and was educated from the Brown Country School, District #14. He lived with his parents in Wisconsin for one year as a boy. The rest of his entire life was spent in the Nelson area. He married Gladys Reed on March 14, 1940, at the courthouse in Clay Center, Nebraska. To this union three daughters were born, Blanche, Nina and Ruth. Basil was a member of the Nelson Christian Church, and now the Nelson Community United Church of Christ. Farming and hard work was his way of life. He and Glayds raised their children on the farm. He always had a horse and did his haying with horses. They had lived on the same section all of his farming life and had lived in three different houses on that section. He raised pigs, enjoyed coon hunting and always had coon dogs around. In his later years he raised rabbits, pigeons, always had a dog beside him and raised Brittany Spaniels. He had also worked at the Animal Research Center in Clay Center in the sheep nursery experimental department. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Evelyn Burke, two infant brothers. He is survived by his wife, Glayds of the home in Nelson; his three daughters, Blanche Heyen and her husband Walter of Gibbon, Nebraska, Nina Anderson and her husband Alvin of Goddard, Kansas, Ruth Carey and her husband David of Lebanon, Missouri; two brothers, Clarence Farver and Gordon Farver and his wife Darlene, both of Nelson; ten grandchildren, Jim, Don, Rodney, Robert and Sean Heyen, Chad and Noal Anderson, and April, Heather, and David, Jr. Carey; two great-grandchildren, Seth and Jared Heyen; other relatives and a host of friends. Basil passed away on February 5, 1990, at the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 73 years, 5 months and 3 days. Funeral services were held Friday, February 9, 1990, at 2:00 p.m. from the Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson Nebraska, with Rev. Royce Buchtel officiating. Music was provided by the Heyen grandsons singing "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace" with Dot Ferebee as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were grandsons Jim, Don, Rodney, Robert and Sean Heyen, Chad and Noal Anderson and David Carey, Jr. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery near Nelson, Nebraska.
