Description	:	Gladys Emma Farver, one of three children of Oliver Reed and Freda Reed, was born on her parents farm near Mt. Clare, Nebraska, on March 14, 1920. Gladys was a graduate of Nelson High School with the class of 1939 and attended two years of college in Fairbury, where she received her licensed practical nurse degree. Read More	Gladys Emma Farver, one of three children of Oliver Reed and Freda Reed, was born on her parents farm near Mt. Clare, Nebraska, on March 14, 1920. Gladys was a graduate of Nelson High School with the class of 1939 and attended two years of college in Fairbury, where she received her licensed practical nurse degree. She was married to Basil Farver on March 14, 1940, at the courthouse in Clay Center, Nebraska. To this union three daughters were born: Blance, Nina and Ruth. Gladys worked as a nurses aid at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson and received her LPN degree in 1972, and later worked at Blue Hill and Superior Good Samaritan Centers. Before her nursing career, she took care of her children and helped with the farm operation. She was a hard working farm wife deeply caring for people and was very proud of helping people in her nursing career. She grew up in the 30's when the time were hard and making due with what there was. She was a member of the Nelson Community United Church of Christ and also a past Rebekah. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Basil, who passed away on February 5, 1990. She is survived by her three daughters: Blanche Heyen and her husband Walter of Gibbon, Nebraska, Nina Anderson and her husband Alvin of Goddard, Kansas, and Ruth Carey and her husband David of Lebanon, Missouri; two brothers, Leslie Reed and his wife Margaret of Nelson and William Reed of Superior; ten grandchildren, Jim, Don, Rodney, Robert and Sean Heyen, Chad and Noal Anderson, and April, Heather and David Carey, Jr.; and two great grandsons, Seth and Jared Heyen. Gladys passed away at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska, on April 21, 1990, at the age of 70 years, 1 month and 7 days. Funeral services were held Monday, April 23, 1990, at 2:00 p.m. from the Nelson Community Church of Christ in Nelson, with Rev. Royce Buchtel officiating. Music was provided by soloist Ruth Ann Carey singing "When Peace Like A River" and the Heyen grandsons singing "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" with Dot Ferebee as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were grandsons: Jim, Don, Rodney, Robert and Sean Heyen, Chad and Noal Anderson and David Carey, Jr. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery near Nelson.
