Evans, who passed away Thursday in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mildred Drury at Everly. Rev. J. H. Walker was in charge of the services and Rev. W. L. Walker was in charge of the services and Rev. W. L. Patterson of Growie, former pastor of the local church, gave a very impressive sermon. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. H. R. Motter, Mrs. J. W. Graham, M.L. Wadsley and Grant Allen who sang, "Nearer my God to Thee" Mrs, Motter sang a solo, " The Lights of Home" with Mrs. C. R. Brower as accompanist. Pallbearers were six grandsons of the deceased: Clifford, Roger, Donald and Robert Evans. Wilson Beryl and Edgar Jackson. Burial was made in the Early cemetery. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Dehloff, Miss Leslie Jones, Miss Margaret Breitsprecher, Waldo Peters, Ernest Breitsprecher, Mrs. Anna Meyers. Benjamin Franklin Evans, son of Samuel and Jane Evans, was born in Delaware County, Dyersville, July 28, 1857. He grew to manhood on the farm where he was born and received his early education in the rural schools. Later he attended Lenox college in Hopkinton, Iowa. At the age of 22 years he came to Sac County and bought a farm four and a half miles northwest of Early which he still owned at the time of his death. He endured many hardships experienced by early pioneers. After two years of toil, being alone he returned to Dyersville and was married to Miss Hattie Whiting July 6, 1881. The following day they came to Sac County to farm where Mr. Evans had made his home. After residing there about six years they move to Early. Where Mr. Evans became engaged in the grain and stock business for many years. Later he returned to his former occupation. That of farming but resided in Early. His home had been in Early since 1887 and had he lived four more days he and his good wife would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Mr. Evans early home training was wholesome, exact and practical. From the lives of good parents he learned the unchangeable principles of Christian religion which sustained and comforted him during his last hours of consciousness. His evidence of his faith in God, convinced those near him of the great comfort of the Christian religion in the hour of death. He was baptized and became a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1902?. While Rev. Stafford was pastor. He was a faithful attendant until failing health prevented his attending services. Mr. Evans was a kind and affectionate husband and father, and was the ever deeply concerned about the needs of his family. His home was a home of hospital and friendliness. He greatly enjoyed his family, and many happy family gatherings will be treasured memories of his children. The doctrine of his life was one of uncom? promising honesty and integrity. Mr. Evans passed away at his home of his daughter, Mrs. Mildred Drury on July 2, 1936 week after an automobile accident the shock of which case in his death. Those who survive him are his wife and five children. Mrs. Will Jackson of Early; Clarence Evans and Mildred Drury of Everly, Elmer Evans of Early, and McKinley Evans of Sioux City, 17 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Also four sisters namely Mrs. Amelia Parker and Mrs. Abbie Wall of Alta, Mrs. Bessie Harden of Early. Mrs. Annie Parker of Long Beach, California and one brother D. W.
