Description	:	Mrs. Harriet Evans, much beloved and long-time rate resident of Early passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 19. Her death came a few minutes after she had sat in the window of her house, watching her many friends going to church. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 in the home of the deceased and at 2 o'clock in the Early in Methodist church. Rev. H. A. James was officiating clergyman. Brewer was accompanist. Interment was in the Early Union Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons, the deceased, namely Clifford Evans, Wilson Drury, Edgar Jackson, Franklin Drury, William Evans and Dick Evans. The flower committee was Mrs. Denzil Engler, Mrs. Herbert DeGarmo, Miss Mildred Wadsley and Leonard's Greenhouse. Harriet Ann Whiting daughter of Robert and Hannah Whiting, was born in Dyersville, Iowa, Delaware Co. on April 12, 1863. She was the youngest of six children, who of all of whom preceded her in death. Her parents moved to a farm in Delaware County and it was there that she spent her girlhood days. She received your education in the rural schools of that community. On July 6, 1881, she was married to Frank Evans and on the following day she, with her husband came to Sac County and settled on a farm four and 1/2 miles northwest of Early, which she still owned at the time of her death. She and her husband suffered many hardships in the early days as did other pioneers. They move to Early in 1887 and since that time Mrs. Evans has resided here. In her early life Mrs. Evans was converted in a camp meeting at Storm Lake remain true to her convictions to the end. She joined the Methodist church and was a faithful attendant and worker for many years her church be a source of comfort and happiness to her. She was greatly interested in the work of W. C. T.U. and had been a member ever since its organization in Early. She was also a charter member of the Woman Society of Christian service. Mrs. Evans was a loving and thoughtful mother thinking always of others before herself. She was known affectionately to many as "Grandma Evans" and was interested in the welfare of her friends and loved ones. She loved her home and welcome all those who entered there. The many happy family gatherings will be treasured memories of her children. She and Mr. Evans celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1931. Mr. Evans passed away five years later. Mr. and Mrs. Evans where parents of five children, namely: Francis Pullen of Spencer, Clarence S. deceased, and Angie Drury of Spence, Elmer Evans of Early and McKinley Evans of Sioux City. She has 14 living grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Three grandchildren are deceased. Three weeks ago Mrs. Evans suffers a light stroke from which she never fully recovered. Sunday morning at 10 minutes after 11 she passed peacefully away to be with the God whom she loved. People from out of town who attended the Funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. McKinley Evans, and Dick. Twogood, Mrs. Jess Whiting and Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Jackson of Sioux City; Mr. Mrs. Francis Pullen, Mrs. Angie Drury, Mrs. Eva Jackson, Mr. Mrs. Bert Kirkpatrick, Mr. Mrs. John Pullen, Mr. and Mrs. F. A.
