V. and Katherine Fast Giesbrecht on July 7, 1908, in Waldheirn, Saskatchewan, Canada. He passed away on February 21, 1986. The family moved to Winton, California, in 1911, stopping for the winter in Linden, Alberta. As a teenager, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour, was baptized, and became a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, together with his father and his brother John. In this faith he passed to his eternal reward. On February 8, 1931, he was married to Marianne Regehr. They lived at various places in Merced County and finally settled near Castle Air Force Base. In 1950, the family moved to Glenn, California, becoming forerunners of the new congregation there. Later the church was built on a comer of their property. His life was busy with many things, but his favorite occupation was well drilling--a skill he began learning as a sixth-grade boy working with his father. There are five children: Nettie Mae and husband Chester Unruh, Nampa, Idaho; Donna Beth and husband Jack Stoner, Bonners Ferry, Idaho; Jerry and wife Carolyn, Glenn, California; Nancy Fern and husband Victor Amoth, Bonners Ferry, Idaho; and Rodney and wife Sharon, Glenn, California. His brothers are: Henry and wife Frances, Glenn, California; Pete and wife Edna, Scooba, Mississippi; and Abe and wife Edna, Glenn, California. His sisters are: Lena and husband John Friesen, Buhl, Idaho; Mary and husband Orville Unruh, Bonners Ferry, Idaho; Sarah and husband Jake Friesen, Buhl, Idaho; and Eva and husband Gerald Davis, Lehigh, Kansas. His sisters-in-law are: Eva Giesbrecht, Winton, California; Myrtle Koehn, also of Winton; Mary Giesbrecht, Glenn, California; and Ella Giesbrecht, Salem, Oregon. Those preceding him are his parents; his sister, Katie; brothers: John, Bill, David, Toby, and Baby Jacob; and one brother-in-law, Henry W . Giesbrecht. Funeral services were held at the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Glenn, California, on February 25, 1986. Ministers Robert Koehn and Leslie Amoth were in charge. Burial was in the Willows Cemetery, Willows, California. Min. Tom Hamlin spoke words of comfort.
