Lake, Minnesota, September 19, 1883 and passed away March 13, 1966 at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 22 days, in the Bloss Memorial Hospital at Atwater, California. When she was 17, she with her parents moved to Waldheim, Saskatchewan, Canada, where she grew to womanhood. Read More	Obit from Messenger of Truth Issue 9, 1966: Our dear Mother, Katherina (Fast) Giesbrecht, daughter of John and Katherine Fast, was born at Mt. Lake, Minnesota, September 19, 1883 and passed away March 13, 1966 at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 22 days, in the Bloss Memorial Hospital at Atwater, California. When she was 17, she with her parents moved to Waldheim, Saskatchewan, Canada, where she grew to womanhood. On Feb. 23, 1904 she was married to Cornelius Giesbrecht in Waldheim, Saskatchewan, sharing joys and sorrows together for 52 years. To this union were born 14 children, 5 daughters and 9 sons. Father passed away Oct. 17, 1956. She made her home with her children until her failing health caused her to be moved to the Grace Nursing Home two months ago. In the spring of 1911 she was converted and baptized by Min. Peter Baerg unto the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, at Sunnyslope, Alta. She lived a sincere Christian life and often expressed concern that her children and grandchildren would be saved. Mother was always very loving and kind. She was always ready to give her time and ability for the needs of her family. When the circumstances were very meager, while her family was young, she often spoke of how she trusted the Lord to supply their needs, and was thankful for the little she had to offer her family. Mother was a great lover of songs, doing much singing. She together with her husband and family moved to Winton, California in 1911. They resided here until they moved to Glenn, California in 1954. Besides her husband, two sons, Jacob and Bill, preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn 5 daughters: Katie (Mrs. Henry W. Giesbrecht) of Winton, Calif.; Lena (Mrs. John Friesen); Sarah (Mrs. Jake Friesen); Eva (Mrs. Gerald Davis) all of Glenn, Calif. and Mary (Mrs. Orville Unruh) of Bonners Ferry, Idaho. 7 sons: John of Atwater, Calif.; Ben, Henry, Dave, Tobie and Abe of Glenn, California and Pete of Montezuma, Kansas. She also leaves 80 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Many were the burdens, mother, Which for us you bore so well, Faith in Jesus and none other, Only can the story tell. So we dry the tear of mourning, And remember that "well done", Is the welcome voice you're hearing, From the Father and the Son. Then we'll work a little longer, Till the summons comes to us, When we hope to meet you yonder In the land of happiness. Memorial services were held on Wed., March 16, at the Atwater funeral home and on Thursday afternoon March 17, 1966 funeral services were conducted at the Glenn church. Words of comfort and consolation were read and spoken by Min. Dick Loewen. Min. A. T.
