Bishop, son of Cyrus Bishop and Elizabeth Creed Bishop, was born August 14, 1890, in Oberlin, Kansas, and died suddenly July 31, 1970 in Hebron, Nebraska, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 17 days. He moved with his parents the following year, 1891, to the Mt. Clare vicinity, where he attended school and grew to manhood. Bishop, son of Cyrus Bishop and Elizabeth Creed Bishop, was born August 14, 1890, in Oberlin, Kansas, and died suddenly July 31, 1970 in Hebron, Nebraska, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 17 days. He moved with his parents the following year, 1891, to the Mt. Clare vicinity, where he attended school and grew to manhood. On December 21, 1912, he was united in marriage to Ruie Preseton in Bethany, Missouri. They established their home on a farm in Nuckolls County. To this marriage, 3 sons and 3 daughters were born. In 1934, he moved from his farm near Superior to a farm near Hebron, where he lived until his death. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hebron for 37 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Survivors are his wife, Ruie, of the home; 2 sons, Reece of York, Nebraska, and Duane of Hebron; 3 daughters, Mrs. Eilert Bargen (Vernoye) of Superior, Mrs. James Butterfield (Vivian) of Santa Ana, California, and Mrs. Harlan Meyer (Kathryn) of Nelson; 2 brothers, William of Caldwell, Idaho, and Walter of Parma, Idaho; 1 sister, Mrs. Blanche Nowa of Arvadia, California; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held August 4 in the United Methodist Church in Hebron with the Rev. Jay Schmidt officiating. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Superior. Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were: Mrs. Vivian Butterfield and daughter, Sherri, Santa Ana, California; Mr. and Mrs. Will Bishop, Caldwell, Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bishop, Parma, Idaho; Mrs. Blanche Nowa, Arvadia, California; Mr. and Mrs. Meloin Preston, Bethany, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Preston, Mt. Moriah, Missouri; Mr. Loy Preston and Neil Preston, Ridgeway, Missouri; Mr. Roy Preston, Columbia, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Preston, Smithville, Missouri; Mrs. Ruby Dinsmore, Bethany, Missouri; Mrs. Thelma O'Hern, Kansas City, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Fredericksen, Cozad, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. Ron Bishop, Debbie and Terry, Grand Island, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. Ardean Arndt, Lincoln, Nebraska; and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bishop, Fremont, Nebraska. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, August 20, 1970 Ben Bishop, 79, of Hebron died Friday, July 31. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 4, 1970 in the United Methodist church at Hebron with Rev. Jay Schmidt officiating. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior. Montgomery-Tibbetts-Cotter of Hebron was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Bishop is the father of Mrs. Harlan Meyer of Nelson.
