Benjamin Henry Henning was born on August 22, 1906 at home in Lancaster County to George and Ella Schultz Henning. He was baptized on October 14, 1906 at St. John Lutheran Church by Pastor Lohr, and he was confirmed on May 23, 1920 at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Cholcher. He attended St. John Lutheran Parochial School from first grade through eighth grade. Ben married Cora Steuer on February 24, 1929 at St. John Lutheran Church by Pastor Cholcher. They had four children. Throughout his life, Ben was involved in his church, serving on almost every board or committee of the church and volunteering his time and talents to do whatever work needed to be done. He also served as a Farmer's Union board member. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church for 88 years. He was a long-time resident at the Crete Manor. He is survived by his wife, Cora; sons, Marvin and Donna Henning, Roger and Mary Jo Henning of Lincoln, Donley and Judy Henning of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, daughter, Carol and Art Brinkmeyer of York; 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, sister Mildred Meinke of Lincoln; brothers, Elmer Henning and Willard Henning, both of Crete. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ella Henning. Funeral services were held February 3 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kramer. The Rev. John Heckmann officiated. Organist was Jolene Reetz and Soloist was Delbert Reiss. Interment was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Kramer. Pallbearers were Thomas Henning, Jonathan Henning, John Thorman, David Brinkmeyer, Merle Schaal and Chris Morrell.
