An exceptionally large crowd of friends and relatives gathered at the Mansfield Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon to pay a final tribute to Mr. Breeding. The services were conducted by the Rev. Clarence Willard and music was furnished by Mrs. Faye Benton, with Mrs. Richard Steen of Emerson as organist. Pall bearers were Richard Guy, Ray Plurrah, Virgil Curtis, James Summers, W. R. Byington, Robert Bopp, Dr. T. E. Shonks, and Fred Mullholland. Honorary pall bearers were Wilbur Bower, Austin Boss, E. W. Burdic, and Dr. J. A. Kline. Mrs. James Summers cared for the registry book. Caring for the flowers were Mrs. Richard Gay, Mrs. W. R. Byington, Mrs. Ray Plumb, Mrs. E. W. Burdie, and Mrs. J. A. Kline. Red Wollard read the following life sketch: Benjamin Swain Breeding, son of Guy B. and Wilma Alberts Breeding, was born a farm southwest of Malvern on October 27, 1908. HIs entire life was spent in Mills County. He attended Foxworthy rural school and Malvern High School. After finishing high school he farmed. On November 25, 1935 he was united in marriage to Lauraine Alice Fickel of Kansas City, Missouri. To this union was born three children: Sandra Lynn, Patricia Ann, and Bruce Edwards. In October of 1941 he purchased the Kilmartin Seed Company and became the local John Deer Implement dealer. In 1948 he constructed a new implement building on Main street and continued to operate the business from this new location. He became the Dodge Plymouth Dealer in 1945 and was also the local agent for Piper Club Airplanes. He was extremely interested in and enthusiastic about flying and he owned and flew one of the first planes in this vicinity. He especially enjoyed being able to fly to their destinations, those needing immediate hospitalizations or emergency treatment. From March of 1945 to June of 1968 he served on the board of directors of the Malvern Independent School District. He was proud of the Malvern Chantry Elementary school built during those years and enthusiastic about the recently constructed new high school business. In 1960 he joined with Jame sBenton to form Breeding and Benton Implement Company, but again assumed sole ownership in 1964 and continued operating as Breeding Implement Company in point of years of service he was one of the oldest John Deer Dealers in town. Despite failing health he continued to operate the business until his death on August 25th in the Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Lauraine of Malvern; daughter, Mrs. C. J. Blank of Emerson, Mrs. Robert Malcom of Malvern, and son Bruce at home; granddaughters Lisa and Leslie Blank of Emerson, Trisha and Christine Malcom of Malvern; one grandson, Lloyd Benjamin Blank of Emerson; two sisters, Illene Conyors of Fullerton, California, Mildred Auth of Gainesville, Florida; two brothers, Garold of Yorisa Linds, California, Harold of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and a host of relatives and friends.
