Bernice Rofena Hoch was born July 22, 1890, in Hartford, the daughter of John and Lomina Dumbauld Hoch. She married Thomas J. Cox in Emporia, Feb. 29, 1912, and he died March 23, 1965. Mrs. Cox was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Circle 2 of the United Presbyterian Women. Mrs. Cox is survived by one son, John T. Cox, Corning, Calif.; two daughters, Ruth Oxelson and Mary Alyce Spears, Paradise, Calif.; one brother, R. L. Hoch, Yuba City, Calif.; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One son, Walter C., died in infancy and another son, Runnels, died in 1963. She was preceded in death by two brothers, R. F. and V. A. Hoch. Surviving relatives of Mrs. Cox who live in Emporia are one nephew, Orville J. Hoch, and two granddaughters, Chimone Cox and Carolyn Tatman.
