Oct.25, 2001) BERNICE WILLIAM BREDEMEIER SENECA- Bernice William Bredemeier, 89, Seneca, KS died Saturday, October 20, 2001 at the Country View Estates Care Home in Seneca, Kan. He was born June 30, 1912 on the family farm, nine miles north and two miles west of Seneca, Kan., the son of Ferdinand and Lillie Hecht Bredemeier. He was raised on the farm and attended and graduated from the Rogers School. Then he engaged in farming, the only occuption he ever wanted to do. He was married to Stella Mable Mussman on February 23, 1938 at the First Lutheran Church in Ohiowa, Nebraska. To this union were born two sons and one daughter who survive him; William Bernice Bredemeier, Seneca, Ronald Wayne Bredemeier, Pawnee City, Nebraska, and Betty Ann Wenzl, Vermillion, Kansas. Stella, better known as "Estella" died on Feb. 17, 1968. On March 2, 1969 Bernice married Eileen Stock Boehmer at Friedens Church of Christ at Bern, Kansas, she survives of the home north of Seneca, Kansas. To this union a daughter was born, Melissa Marie Bredemeier, who survives of the home. Fifteen grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren also survive Bernice. He was preceded in death by a sister Alice Christensen, Centralia, April 7, 1998 and a granddaughter, Jeniffer Wenzl, Vermillion, Kan. January 21, 1999. Bernice was an active member of the Friedens United Church of Christ in Bern, Kan. He had served on the Church board and held offices, including a term as president in past years. Bernice enjoyed farming. He raised hogs and cattle and also operated a dairy herd for a number of years. Bernice had a beautiful bass voice and could be heard singing while doing his chores or out in the field working. He dearly loved his family and his home. He will be remembered as a good, kind and gentle man. Funeral services were Tuesday, October 23, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at the Friedens United Church of Christ at Bern, Kansas. Rev. Debra Traxler conducted the services. Margaret Hecht was the organist, and Bill Hecht sang. Casket bearers were W. R. Bredemeier, Ronald Bredemeier,Jr., Rodney Bredemeier, Brian Bredemeier, Scott Battles, and Kevin Caskey. Burial was in the Friedens United Church of Christ Cemetery in Bern. Memorials are being left to the Friedens United Church of Christ at Bern, Kan. and may be sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary in Seneca, Kan.
