Description	:	Berniece Katherine Snyder, 95, of Akron, Ia., died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1993 at the Akron Care Center after a brief illness. Services were held Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron. Monsignor Gerald Lyon officiated. Burial was in the St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery, under direction of Schroeder funeral home in Akron. Visitation was held Friday, with a Catholic Daughters of American rosary and a scripture prayer service held at the funeral home. Mrs. Snyder was born Nov. 23, 1897, in Akron, the daughter of Isaac and Mary Ellen (Coyle) Harris. She graduated from Akron high school in 1917 and received a teaching certificate from Madison Normal School in Madison, S.D. She taught country school in the Akron area for four years. She married Wayne Snyder June 12, 1923, in Akron. He died Aug. 17, 1960. She was librarian in Akron for five years. A lifelong Akron area resident, she entered the nursing home in June 1988. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Ladies Aid of the church, and Catholic Daughters of America. She was a member of the Senior Citizen's Center and wrote articles for the center. She was a 4-H leader. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Don (Mary Ellen) Caskey of Akron and Dorothy Snyder of San Jose, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil and Virgil Harris; and a sister, Alice Mills.
