Lynn, passed away Thursday, January 6, 1972, at the age of 90 years, 2 months and 3 days at the Heritage Home, Geneva, Nebr. Bert A. Lynn, son of Andrew and Sarah (Folden) Lynn, was born in a sod house four and one-half miles from Milligan, November 2, 1881. He graduated from Ohiowa high school in 1905. He attended the University of Nebraska and the Beatrice Business College. He spent one year with a bank in Moore, Mont. Bert was then appointed deputy county clerk of Fillmore county, serving four years under U. F. Stanard. He served as county clerk from 1912 until 1917. Bert was employed for several years by the Geneva Land Company. He was appointed Geneva city clerk and served in this office many years. In 1950 he was elected Fillmore county treasurer. He held this office until his retirement in 1962. He was a member of the Geneva Volunteer Fire company for 41 years, serving many years as secretary-treasurer. He was a member of the Solomon Lodge and a 50-year member in both the Masonic Lodge No. 79 of Geneva and the Knights of Pythias lodge of Milligan. He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ of Geneva, serving a number of years as treasurer. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Marguerite; daughters, Mrs. Betty Clark and Mrs. Clair (Marilyn) Christiancy; son Bert J. Lynn; son-in-law, Clair Christiancy; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Geneva Sunday, January 9, at 2 p. m. with Rev. Delano Spitzer officiating. Mrs. Willard Foster of Geneva was organist, also accompanying Mrs. Alvin Rizer of Geneva who sang “The Lord’s Prayer” and “In the Garden.” Pallbearers were Wayne Chapman, Marlin Domeier, Tom Ewalt, Lowell Garrett, Darrel Hughes and Dean Richards. Honorary pallbearers were Grady Corbitt, Willard Foster, J. J. Klima, Leo Murphy, Carl Schneider and Jim Willy. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal 13 January 1972 page 5.
