Griimes (sic) Mrs. Elmer H. Grimes, formerly of 826 Cottonwood St., died Sunday morning in the Cottonwood Manor Nursing Home. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Mrs. Grimes was the former Bertha Jane Alexander, daughter of Amos E. and Isabel Mason Alexander. She was born Jan. 27th, 1886, in Lebo, and married on March 20th, 1906, in Burlington. Mrs. Grimes was a member of the Grace Methodist Church and the Philathea Class and Circle 1 of the Women's Society of Christian Service of the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died April 27th, 1965, and by one brother, William Alexander, and two sisters, Ida Mae Alexander and Nora Ingram. She is survived by one son, Everett E. Grimes, 1010 Exchange St.; three daughters, Mrs. Marie Smith, o214 (sic) South Merchant St.; Mrs. George Martin, Inkster, Mich., and Mrs. Wendell (Edith) Richards, Rt. 5; 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. ******************************************* Emporia Gazette, Thursday, December 11, 1969; p.6, c.1 The Grimes Funeral Funeral services for Mrs. Elmer A. Grimes, formerly of 826 Cottonwood St., who died Sunday in the Cottonwood Manor Nursing Home, were held Wednesday afternoon in Roberts-Blue-Barnett Chapel. They were conducted by the Rev. J. Joyce Wilson, pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church. The soloist was Erwin Gile, the organist was Mrs. Robert Plummer and the pallbearers were Albert Stolfus, Ernest T. Owens, Raymond L. Andrews, Paul L. Hahn, Clarence Kraum and Paul J. Terry. Members of the Women's Society of Christian Service of the Grace United Methodist attended in a group. Burial was on Maplewood Cemetery. Relatives who attended from out of town were Mrs. George Martin, Inkster, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. D.H. Grimes, Overland Park; Mr. and Mrs. James R. Grimes, Wichita; and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Ingram, Hutchinson.
