Description	:	Married June 20, 1917 in Detroit Lakes, MN. Bertha came to North Dakota in the spring of 1906 and apparently worked at the A. H. Overby home until that September. In the spring of 1907 she went to Minneapolis where she worked in a hospital there.. In 1917 she and Anton were married. Her mother and Anton’s mother were sisters. Anton worked on his father’s farm until their marriage when they purchased a quarter of land from his father and started their own farming operation a mile south of Binford but he lost the farm during the depression years. Leona was in 5th grade when they lost of the farm. After moving further north, they rented and then bought 160 acres of land by Jesse where they lived until their deaths. The funeral for Mrs. Anton (Bertha) Vangen, 83, who died Tuesday, will be here at 11 Saturday in Faith Lutheran Church. Bertha Lockrem was born at Northfield, Minn., Sept. 29, 1887, and was married at Detroit Lakes, Minn., June 20, 1917. The couple farmed here. She leave her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Leona) Olson, Binford; a son, Norman, Minneapolis; a sister and two brothers at Northfield; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Anton and Bertha raised Norman Vangen, son of Karl Vangen, uncle to Anton.
