The Fairfield Daily Journal obituary (transcribed below) lists the DOB as March 12, 1877. Wife of Hobart S. Hanna, married Sept. 4, 1906 at Colorado Springs, Colorado. Survived by a son, who was born Feb. 5, 1908. He was christened Marshal Pequignot Hanna per notes found in the Fairfield Public Library, but the first name should be "Marshall". Is this that son - # 140424417, ? ------------------------ Fairfield Daily Journal Monday Feb. 24, 1908 Pg. 2 Col. 3 MRS. S. H. HANNA DEAD (sic. should be MRS. H. S. HANNA DEAD) Mrs. Hobart S. Hanna passed away Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Pequignot, about ten miles east of this city, after an illness (sic. illness) extending over a period of several months. Bertha Pequignot Hanna was born in Cedar township Jefferson county, Iowa, March 12, 1877. The greater part of her life was spent in the vicinity of her birth. She was a student of Parsons college and also of the State Normal School at Cedar Falls. In school and college she was always admired by her class mates. Her naturally pleasant disposition expanded under the influence of college life and she numbered her friends by the scores. The first of September 1906 she went to Colorado Springs, Colorado and in that city on September 4 she became the bride of Hobart S. Hanna, Assistant Postmaster at Colorado Springs. In the early part of last summer Mrs. Hanna's health began to fail and her heart which had always been weak, was found to be greatly affected. During the latter part of the summer her mother went to Colorado and accompanied her back to the famil home near this city where she did not seem to improve any. Three weeks ago a baby boy was born to Mrs. Hanna and since that time she has slowly but surely sank to rest. She is survived by her sorrowing young husband and infant son, Marshall, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Pequignot, and four brothers; Louis, Ned and Donald at home and Edward of Red Oak; and four sisters, Marie of Durango, Colo., Leona of Burlington, Hattie and Lucille at home. Mrs. Hanna was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic church of this city and the funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the church. Father H.J. Hogan will conduct the last services. The funeral party will leave the house at nine o'clock and arrive at the church at 10:30 o'clock. The members of Mrs. Hanna's family were with her in her last hours. A number of other relatives are expected to arrive from a distance today and in the morning to attend the funeral.
