She was a longtime Stanhope area resident who died Wednesday, April 27, 1988 at the Stratford Care Center. Bessie Green, daughter of William and Alice Martin Green, was born July 27, 1893 at Gilman, where she was educated. She married Ralph E. Berry on September 22, 1913 at Gilman. She was a longtime Stanhope area resident who died Wednesday, April 27, 1988 at the Stratford Care Center. Bessie Green, daughter of William and Alice Martin Green, was born July 27, 1893 at Gilman, where she was educated. She married Ralph E. Berry on September 22, 1913 at Gilman. The couple moved to a farm near Stanhope in 1919 where they farmed until retirement. They moved into Stanhope, entering the Stratford Care Center in July of 1981. Following the death of Mr. Berry in July of 1984, she continued to reside at the care center. Survivors are four sons and one daughter, Edwin of Stratford, Claude of Visalia, California, Donald of Woolstock, Gerald of Corcoran, California, Marijene (Mrs. Charles) Allen of Stanhope; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Louise Strand of Grinnell. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, her parents, one grandson, a great-grandson, one brother and three sisters. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors.
