Surviving are his wife, Bessie, also residing at the care center; five sons and one daughter: Edwin Berry, Stratford, Leonard Berry, Fort Worth, Texas; Donald Berry, Webster City, Gerald Berry, Corcoran, Calif., Claude Berry, Visalia, Calif., and Mrs. Charles (Marigene) Allen, Stanhope; 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucy Dolash of Visalia, and also several nieces and nephews. Berry, 91, will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Calvary United Methodist church in Stratford with burial in the Oakwood Cemetery at Stratford. Friends may call at the Foster Funeral Home from 6 p.m. Friday until 9:30 a.m. Monday when the casket will be taken to the church. Mr. Berry, a former Stanhope area resident farmer, who had been residing at the Stratford Care Center the past two and one-half years, died Wednesday night at the Boone County hospital. He had been a patient there the past two days. Ralph Elmer Berry, son of Robert and Minnie Moses Berry, was born Jan. 19, 1893, near Traer, Iowa. He was reared and educated at Grinnell. He married to Bessie Green Sept. 22, 1913 at Gilman, Iowa. The couple moved to a farm near Stanhope in March of 1919 where they farmed until retiring and moving into Stanhope. He is survived by his wife, Bessie; five sons, Edwin of Stratford, Leonard of Fort Worth, Texas; Claude of Visalia, Calif., Donald of Webster City, Gerald of Corcoran, Calif., and one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Marigene) Allen of Stanhope; 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucy Dolash of Visalia, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one great-grandson, three brothers and one sister. He was baptized in the Methodist faith.
