Description	:	SALEM - Betty Pidgeon, age 89, of Salem, died at 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24th at her home following a long illness. She was born June 4, 1919 in Salem, the daughter of the late Paul and Mary Elizabeth (Greenamyer) Holwick. Betty graduated from Salem High School in 1936 and attended the Bliss School of Business. She had worked as a secretary at the former Bliss Company until her marriage. Read More	SALEM - Betty Pidgeon, age 89, of Salem, died at 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24th at her home following a long illness. She was born June 4, 1919 in Salem, the daughter of the late Paul and Mary Elizabeth (Greenamyer) Holwick. Betty graduated from Salem High School in 1936 and attended the Bliss School of Business. She had worked as a secretary at the former Bliss Company until her marriage. Following her marriage, she worked as a secretary at the Church Budget Envelope Company for 64 years and retired as secretary/treasurer. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior and the Salem Order of Eastern Stars. She was also a member of the former Salem Garden Club and the Salem Polo Club. Her husband, James A. Pidgeon, whom she married December 7, 1940, preceded her in death January 20, 2005. Survivors include three sons, James H. (Wanda) Pidgeon of East Rochester, Barry (Rhonda) Pidgeon of Salem, and Michael J. (Brenda) Pidgeon of Salem; a sister, Mary Ellen Moff of Boardman; ten grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. A brother, Kenneth Holwick, also preceded her in death. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Joanne Dota officiating. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Home Care Advantage of Salem for the excellent care that was given to Betty for many years. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, OH 44512. 3/26/09
