Betty Jane Inness, daughter of John and Edith (Pratt) Stauffer was born December 16, 1925 at Phillips, Nebraska. Betty graduated from Phillips High School in 1943, then worked at Hamilton County Rationing Board. She attended York College before moving to Meadow Grove with her parents in 1945. Betty also taught fifth and sixth grades at Meadow Grove Public School for five years. On March 21, 1948, she married Dale O. Inness, and to this union, three children were born: Gary, Larry, and Patricia. Betty taught piano and organ lessons in her farm home for 45 years to many students. Some were referred to her from Tom's Music House in Norfolk, Nebraska. She was an accompanist and vocalist at many functions. Betty was also a Brownie Troop Leader. She was a member of the Meadow Grove Methodist Church for more than 50 years, where Betty was organist and a soloist. Betty is survived by her sons, Gary Inness and wife Becky of Meadow Grove, Nebraska, Larry Inness and wife Gigi of Omaha, Nebraska, and daughter Patricia Mueller and husband David of Indianapolis, Indiana; along with five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, and one brother.
