John Henry Stauffer was born July 6. 1890 in Seward County, Nebraska, to Christian and Lydia Stauffer. He passed away October 25, 1972, at York. Nebraska. In December of 1916 he was united in marriage to Edith Pratt. To this union were born three daughters and two sons. Mr. and Mrs. Stauffer farmed in Seward County until 1921 when they moved to Hamilton County near Phillips, Nebraska, where they farmed until 1945, at which time they moved to Meadow Grove. He lived there until 1967 when he moved to Tilden. In 1968 he became ill and has needed special care since that time. Mr. Stauffer was a member of the United Methodist Church. Survivors include his sons, Ivan of Roswell, New Mexico and Glenn of York, Nebraska; daughters Mrs. Don (Violet) Shonkwiler of Billings, Montana, Mrs. Bernard (Eunice) Gyger of Omaha, and Mrs. Dale (Betty) Inness of Meadow Grove; two brothers, Edwin of Milford and Amos of Deshler; thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith, in 1952; three sisters and two brothers. We give thanks - To the many friends and relatives for their cards, food, floral tributes, money memorials, and other tokens of appreciation. Thanks also to Rev. Jones for his kind words and services. A special thanks to the WSCS for serving dinner in the church parlors, and to the Happy Home Makers Club for serving lunch at the Inness home following services. Our deep appreciation goes out to all for these kind and wonderful people at this time. The kind expressions of comfort and sympathy during the illness and death of our father and grandfather was deeply appreciated.
