Description	:	Betty Mae Henderson Olson, daughter of Marion and Eva Griffin Henderson, was born September 26, 1927 at Red Oak, Iowa and died April 4, 1995 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, following three years of declining health. She grew up in Red Oak Where she graduated high school. Read More	Betty Mae Henderson Olson, daughter of Marion and Eva Griffin Henderson, was born September 26, 1927 at Red Oak, Iowa and died April 4, 1995 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, following three years of declining health. She grew up in Red Oak Where she graduated high school. Following her schooling, she was employed at the Sprugeons store in Red Oak.On September 18, 1946, Betty was united in marriage with Fredrick Olson at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Essex and to this union five children were born, Darwin, Tom, Deloris, Bob, and Sharon, were born.Following their marriage, they farmed northeast of Essex until retiring and moving to town in November of 1987. Besides being a housewife and mother, Betty worked at the Union Carbide Plant in Red Oak for 32 years before retirement. After her retirement, she worked at Kriegler’s Office Supply in Shenandoah for 3 years until her health began to fail. Baptized and confirmed at the Baptist Church in Red Oak, Betty was currently a member of Fait Covenant Church in Essex. She also belonged to the Maple Grove Birthday Club, the Study and Service Club, and the Suburban Club. Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Marion Henderson, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Fred of Essex; five children, Darwin Olson and wife Nancy of Onaga, Kansas; Tom Olson and wife Jennifer of Shenandoah, Iowa; Deloris Olson of O’Neil, Nebraska, Bob Olson and wife Joni of Essex, Iowa; Sharon Buckminster and husband Kim of Falls City, Nebraska; and 12 grandchildren. She is also survived by her step-father, Reuben Anderson of Red Oak, Iowa; one sister, Beverly Hubbs and husband Tom of Pueblo, Colorado; a sister-in-law, Margaret Henderson of Manhattan, Kansas; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
