Globe Gazette, June 30, 1943 CHARLES CITYANS EXCHANGE VOWS AT TEXAS AIR SCHOOL Charles City -- The post chapel at the Big Spring bombardier school, Big Springs, Texas, was the scene of the June wedding of Miss Betty Bishop, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Bishop, and Lt. Virgin Mason, Big Springs, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Mason, all of Charles City. The wedding was solemnized at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon, June 24. On the morning of the same day, Lieutenant mason received his commission and wings with the rating of aircraft observer and bombardier. the nuptial vows were read by Chaplain J. L. patterson. Acting as attendants were Lt. and Mrs. Raymond A Mann of Big Springs, formerly of Andersin, Indiana. In the absence of the bride's father, Miss Bishop was given in marriage by Lt. Daniel Mertz of Omaha, Nebraska. Following the cermony, a wedding dinner was served at the Settles Hotel in Big Springs. Lieutenent and Mrs. Mason arrived home Tuesday from Big Springs to visit in Charles City for a few days. Globe Gazette, July 3, 1943
