They are the burden bearers of the world, sharing the loads of others. They are the children of tribulation, enduring lives of suffering without complaint. Such a one was Beulah Grace Brown, daughter of William S. and Kate Reardon Brown. When this child came to bless their home at Fairmont, Nebraska on November 14, 1886, the parents had, of course, no way of knowing how much they would come to depend on her. The mother had poor health for years and was bedfast the last five months of her life. Her are fell largely on Beulah. After the mother's death in 1915, Miss Brown made the home for the father. He also required much nursing for a considerable time before his death in 1933. Miss Beulah Brown led an active life in many ways too. After graduating from the Fairmont high school in 1905, she attended the Nebraska Wesleyan University for one year where she obtained her teacher's certificate. The teaching profession largely engaged her time during the succeeding years until 1918. One year was spent as instructor of the second and third grade pupils in the Fairmont public schools and she also taught in several rural schools in Nebraska and Montana. In 1922 her father was appointed postmaster of the Fairmont office, and she acted as his assistant during the next eleven years preceding his death. These public contacts naturally gave her a large circle of acquaintances, many of whom she numbered as personal friends. She likewise enjoyed a Christian fellowship in the local Methodist Episcopal Church of which she became a member on August 20, 1905. Miss Brown was also an active member of the local chapter of the P.E.O. Several years ago it became evident that she was afflicted with a serious malady. As a result she has been an intense sufferer for the past three years. Although several operations were performed to alleviate the condition, the last being a little over two weeks ago, they brought only temporary relief. Her especial concern was that she should never prove a burden to anyone. To that end she would act cheerful when she must many times have been in real discomfort. For her closest friends, she ever maintained that droll sense of humor that so endeared her to them that while it made light of her own afflictions. They will not soon forget this heroic spirit and they may well believe that death has but released her from her tribulation that she may receive her coronation. Besides the parents, one sister, Mrs. Irene Thompson, has preceded her in death. Two brothers, Winfred Earl of North Platte, Nebraska and Alva Lee of Fairmont, Nebraska and one sister, Mrs. Ethel Frazier of Fairmont are all of the living members of the immediate family. While they can not wish her back to an existence of pain, nevertheless, her relatives and friends will keenly miss her kindly presence and remember her with genuine love and affection. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Methodist church with the pastor, Rev. Robert L. Embree, in charge. Music was furnished by a quartet consisting of Oliver Moul, Mrs. Charles McFadden, Mrs. Mabel Quinlan and W.E. Black with Mrs. A.A. Ashby accompanying at the piano.
