Description	:	Alva Lee Brown, second son of William Silas and Kate Reardon Brown was born October 1, 184, in Geneva township. He passed away in the Geneva hospital December 18, 1968, at the age of 84 years, 2 months and 17 days. He attended the Fairmont high school, graduating in 1904. He attended the University of Nebraska from 1904 until 1908, and was a member of the Acacia fraternity. He was united in marriage to Grace King, December 1, 1908. They established their home in Fairmont where he was in business until his retirement in 1946. He attended the University of Nebraska from 1904 until 1908, and was a member of the Acacia fraternity. He was united in marriage to Grace King, December 1, 1908. They established their home in Fairmont where he was in business until his retirement in 1946. He was active in community affairs, serving on the Fairmont school board for many years, as police magistrate and justice of the peace. He was the oldest member of Fairmont Lodge No. 48, A.F.&A.M., having received its Jordan Medal. Death came to Mr Brown, ending long years of suffering. Besides his wife, he leaves to mourn his passing three children, William K. Brown of Phillipsburg, Kas., Phyllis Mooring of Lincoln, Neb., and Virginia L. Brown of Bellevue, Neb; four grandchildren, Susan and Alan Brown of Phillipsburg, Kansas and Ester and Eileen Mooring of Lincoln, Neb.; other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Fairmont United Church of Christ at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, December 21, Rev. William Reitmeier officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Smith sang, accompanied by Linda Smith. Pallbearers were Ralph Keil, Don Beavers, Benard Lovegrove, Russell Snodgrass, Hubert McClellan and Melvin Ackerman. Interment was in the Fairmont cemetery.
