He was born on July 4, 1913, in Chester Township, Wabash County, to Albert and Maude (Helm) Bowen. He married Louise E. Walther on Oct. 10, 1937. She died on Nov. 19, 1999. Surviving are a son, Todd Bowen, Fort Wayne; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Karen) Dawson, Warsaw; a sister, Kathryn E. Thompson, Fort Wayne; five grandchildren, Brandon Bowen and Jillian Bowen, both of Fort Wayne, Tim Montel and J. Todd Montel, both of Rochester, and Tammy Dittmer, Connersville; and 11 great-grandchildren. A brother is deceased. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester. The Rev. Kurt Stout will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary North Manchester Chapel. Preferred memorials are to the First Brethren Church or Timbercrest Retirement Community.
