Will just use Polk county, Iowa, for the DOD location for this memorial pending any clarification. -------------------- Fairfield Ledger Tuesday Sept. 18, 1990 Blanche Brown Rodgers Former Fairfield resident Blanche Brown Rodgers, 88, died at noon Monday, Sept. 17, 1990, at the Urbandale Health Care Center in Des Moines. Mrs. Rodgers was born Sept. 14, 1902, near Fairfield,the daughter of James William and Carrie Jane Rizor Brown. She grew up in Fairfield and graduated from Fairfield High School and Parsons College. She taught elementary school in Fairfield and Packwood before her marriage to Harry Elliott Rodgers Aug. 20, 1927, in Des Moines. After their marriage, they moved to Cotter, where she taught and he was a school administrator. In 1936 they moved to Shenandoah, where they lived until 1980. Mrs. Rodgers was a member of the United Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Joan Elsey of Potosi, Mo., and Rosanne Vincent of Des Moines; four grand-children; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters, Marian Abbey and Sybil Mitchell; and one brother, Matthew Lazelle Brown. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Raymond Funeral Home, the Rev. Sara Malone officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
