Blanche Sylvie Petersen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Detlef Petersen was born seven miles north of Loup City in the Oak Creek neighborhood Aug. 2, 1890, and died in an Omaha hospital Dec. 6, 1948. She spent her girlhood around Loup City and taught school for three years previous to her marriage. She became a member of the United Brethren church shortly after her marriage to Jake C. Zwink Feb. 7, 1912. To this union were born four children, Ivan and Bernard of Loup City, Royal of Riverside, Calif. and Elaine at home in Grand Island. Mr. and Mrs. Zwink spent most of their married life farming near Loup City until a few years ago when they moved into town. Later they moved to Grand Island. Mrs. Zwink is survived, besides her husband and four children, by three daughters-in-law, three grandchildren, her mother, Mrs. Caroline Petersen of Redlands, Calif.; five sisters, Mrs. Emma Bauhard and Miss Ell Petersen of Redlands, Calif.; Mrs. Eliza Petersen of Brooks, Minn.; Mrs. Earnest Johnson of North Loup; and Mrs. Dudley Morrison of Santa Anna, Calif.; by two brothers, Lloyd Peterson of Loup City and Clinton Petersen of Kearney; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
