He passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2012 on the family ranch outside of Soledad, surrounded by family and friends. He was born, grew up, married, raised his family, worked, retired and died, just where he wanted to be: On the ranch. His Spanish heritage, love of God, family, friends, and salt of the earth lifestyle, stayed with him his entire life. We loved hearing stories of life on the dairy in the days before electricity, of how he knocked his front teeth out trying to start the truck with a crank and getting up before daylight to milk cows before school. Bob grew up in a time when hard work and concern for others was a virtue. Throughout his life, he held that staying connected to and service to others was an important part of living and this belief was made visible as he gave of himself through 4-H, Farm Bureau, Young Farmers, School Boards, Historical Society, Lions, Swiss Club, the Church and Soledad Mission. In everything he did, 4-H, Soledad Mission and Church were lifelong associations. He was the first 4-H Diamond Star in Monterey County and won countless ribbons and trophies for his show string of prized Holstein Cows; in later years he was livestock leader and community leader. At Soledad Mission he did everything from hoeing weeds to serving for years on the Board and he was a Lector at Our Lady of Solitude until he could no longer see the print! His devotion to family and community was exceeded only by his love, devotion and fidelity to his wife of 68 years, Mary. She was everything to him and he honored her every day of his life. Their many years together may seem interrupted now, but hearts connected on this level are welded together in the space and time of eternity. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Abel and Nicola Bianchi and his grandson, Abel Bianchi Thomas. He is survived by his wife Mary, children Nic, Kathi, Dana and Craig Bianchi of the family ranch, Grandchildren Petra Bianchi of Carmel, Lisa Bianchi of Portland Oregon, Matthew (Jamie) Panziera of Salinas, Kristin (Jim) Dow of Soledad, Bob Bianchi ll of Soledad and ten great grandchildren. And Daughters of his Heart Lilliana Martinez and Leanor Martinez Visitation will be Monday June 4, 2012 from 5 to 8pm at the Soledad Mission Chapel, Fort Romie Rd. Please come and celebrate Bob's New Life at the Vigil, Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 7pm and The Funeral Liturgy Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Solitude Catholic Church in Soledad. Burial will immediately follow the mass at the Soledad District Cemetery. The family would like everyone to join us for a reception where we will be sharing stories and memories. If you would like to remember Bob with a memorial; a contribution to The Soledad Mission P.O. Box 515 Soledad, 93960 would be lovely. He will be missed, but Papa has left enough of himself with us, 'till we meet again. Happy Trails Pop.
