Bonnie attended School in Mulberry, Kansas and for a brief time in Liberal, Missouri. She graduated from Mulberry, High School in 1951. On October 17,1951 she married Thomas F. Bonnie is survived by eight children: Thomas Compton Jr. and wife Sharon of Pittsburg; Connie Engle of Pittsburg; Nancy Smith and husband John of Pittsburg; William Compton and wife Hwa Cha of Ogden, Illinois; Rebecca Casey and husband Rick of Pittsburg; Stephen Compton and wife Dorothy of Lake Winnebago, Missouri; Michael Compton and wife Mary of Capaldo and Catherine Henderson and husband Allan of Topeka. She was a proud grandma of 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren who lovingly called her "Granny". Many nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren that she loved dearly, also survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Pete Reeder, four sisters, Lorene Wilson, Nadine Egender, Deloris Goodloe and Mary Houghton and three brothers Howard, Norman and Robert Hoop. Membership was held in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Chrch where she was a member of the Altar Society. The Mass of Christan Burial will be held Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 10:00A.M. at Our Lady Lourdes Catholic Church. Father Rick Kotrba will be the celebrant. The parish rosary will be prayed Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 6:00P.M. at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma, Kansas, where the family will receive friends until 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in Rosebank Cemetery in Mulberry. The family suggest memorial donations be made to the Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Fund or the Mulberry Funeral Dinner Fund. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Arma, Ks. 66712. Published in the Morning Sun on June 17. 2014
