Read More	Stratford Courier May 2, 1946 Miss Betty Larson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Larson, was born October 15, 1864, in Sweden, and died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charley Berggren, at Boone, April 28, 1946, at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 13 days. She sustained a broken hip in Boone Dec. 30, 1942. She was taken to the Boone county hospital the following day where she remained until April 26, 1943, when she was moved to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Berggren, where she had been tenderly cared for until the time of her death. She came to the United States from Sweden with her parents when she was about two years old. They located on a farm in the southern part of Hamilton county, near the town of Stratford. It was here she met Erick Sudderberg and on Dec. 22, 1883, they were united in marriage. To this union eight children were born - three sons and five daughters. They lived in the vicinity of Stratford until 1923 when they moved to New Mexico. They remained there until 1936 when they returned to the South Marion community. She was a former member of the South Marion Methodist church. Her husband preceded her in death Nov. 4, 1939. She leaves to mourn her departure, four daughters and two sons, Mrs. Theodore Lundquist of Stanhope, Mrs. Charley Berggren and Lewis Sudderberg of Boone, Mrs. Paul Newberg of Albuquerque, N.M., Roy Sudderberg of Carlsbad, N.M., and Mrs. Paul Nichols of Bakersfield, Calif.; two sisters, seventeen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Last rites were held Wednesday afternoon, May 1, at 1:15 in the Charley Berggren home at Boone and at the South Marion chuch at 2:30 o'clock conducted by the Rev. Arthur Rasmussen, who used as his text the 23rd Psalm. Three songs, "Home of the Soul," "He Will Meet Me at the Portal," and "Sweet Bye and Bye," were sung by Mrs. Verlyn Fry and Miss Pearl Swedlund, accompanied by Miss Elsie Swedlund. Those in charge of the flowers were Mr. and Mrs. Justin M. Anderson of Stratford, Mrs. Vern Soderberg and Mrs. Leonard Burrell of Boone. The remains were laid to rest in the family plot in the South Marion cemetery, with the following serving as pallbearers: Virgil Moeller, Henry Mitchel and Vern Soderberg of Boone, William East of Stanhope, Leo Casner of Cedar Rapids and Joe Banghart of Stratford.
