Sudderberg died in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Theodore Lundquist, southeast of Stratford Saturday. He had reached the old age of 82 years. Death was due to complications caused by a stroke of paralysis which he suffered a short time before his death. Deceased and his wife lived in this community for many years on their farm, southeast of town. But in 1923 they moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, on account of their son's health. Three years ago they moved back to this community and have since lived with their daughters, Mrs. Lundquist and Mrs. Charley Berggren. Surviving children are: Mrs. Lundquist and Mrs. Berggren, Lewis, of Boone, Mrs. Paul Newberg, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Roy, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Mrs. Paul Nichols, of Carlsbad, New Mexico. A son, Wallace, died in 1932 in Albuquerque, and a daughter, Ina, died here in 1907. There4 are 16 grandchildren. One brother, Jonas, lives in Albuquerque. One brother and one sister have preceded him in death. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon. At 1:30 o'clock there was a family prayer service in the Lundquist home and at 2 o'clock services were held in the South Marion Methodist Church. These were in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Murphy Duncan. Interment was in the South Marion Cemetery. Stratford Courier November 16, 1938 OBITUARY E.E. SUDDERBERG Last rites for E.E. Sudderberg were held Wednesday afternoon with a family service in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Theodore Lundquist at 1:30 o'clock and in the South Marion Church at 2 o'clock. Both services were in charge of the Rev. Murphy Duncan who used for his text, Revelations 21:4: "And God shall wipe away their tears; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away." The many floral offerings were a silent tribute to the high esteem in which deceased was held by loved ones and friends. Interment was made in the South Marion Cemetery. The following were pallbearers: John Erickson, Godfrey Lundquist, Elmer Berggren, August Johnson, Oscar Erickson, John Textrum, of Ames. Erick Sudderberg was born Oct. 1, 1857, in Bollnäs, Gävleborg, Sweden, and departed this life Nov. 4, 1939, being 82 years, 1 month, 3 days old. At the age of 13, he came to America with his parents and other members of the family, arriving in this country June 29, 1870. The family settled on a farm in Boone County where deceased grew to manhood. On Dec. 22, 1883, he was married to Miss Betty Larson, and of this union eight children were born. Left to mourn his departure are his widow, and the following children: Mrs. Theodore Lundquist and Mrs. Charley Berggren, of Stanhope, Lewis O., of Boone, Mrs. Paul Newberg, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Roy and Mrs. Paul Nichols, of Carlsbad, New Mexico. Two children, Ina and Wallace, preceded him in death. Also surviving is a brother, Jonas, of Albuquerque, New Mexico. A brother and sister have preceded him in death. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren. In early manhood he became a member of the South Marion Methodist Church and his membership remained there until his death. He lived in this community until 1923 when he moved to New Mexico to be with his son, Wallace, who was ill at the time. He remained in that state for thirteen years, returning to this community in June, 1936. Since then, he and Mrs. Sudderberg have made their home with their daughters, Mrs. Lundquist and Mrs. Berggren.
