Description	:	Stratford Courier April 10, 1919 Passing of an Old Settler Mrs. E.N. Erickson, a former old and respected citizen of Stratford and community, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.F. Newman, at Amiret, Minnesota on Friday, April 4, 1919. She was 87 years of age and had been ailing for several years. Her husband died at the home of his son, Alfred Erickson, southeast of Stratford some two years ago. The remains were shipped to the son's home here and funeral services held Tuesday. Stratford Courier April 17, 1919 Obituary Erickson Bertha Johnson was born in Ovanåker, Hälsingland, Sweden and died at Amiret, Minnesota, April 4, 1919 aged 87 years, 5 months and 7 days. She was married to Erick N. Erickson March 25, 1867, in Sweden. Together with her husband she came to this country in the fall of the same year locating at Victoria, Illinois. After two years had passed they came to the state of Iowa locating on a farm southeast of Stratford. Several years ago she and her husband moved into Stratford and lived here until shortly before his death which occurred a little more than a year ago. Some months ago she went to live with her daughter, Mrs. Axel Newman near Amiret, Minn. She leaves to mourn her passing, one son, Alfred Erickson, of southeast of Stratford; Will Erickson of Kennedy, Nebraska; and Mrs. Matilda Newman, near Amiret, Minn. One daughter died while yet a child. The service over the remains were held from the home of her son, Alfred Erickson, Tuesday and the remains laid beside those of her husband in the Swede Bend cemetery. Rev. Jensen of the South Marion church officiating. Card of Thanks. We desire to express our thank to those who assisted us at the burial of our mother, Mrs. E.N. Erickson.
