She was born June 14, 1843 at Selbo Norway, and at the time of death was 60 years, 8 months and 26 days of age. She was married to John S. Eidem in Norway in the Sumer of 1866 and three weeks later came to this country to make her home. She and her husband homesteaded the place where she made her home in her declining years. They suffered the privation which fell to the lot of settlers and for two years they worked out near Yankton. They then returned to their farm and spent their remaining years there. Mr. Eidem died on August 6th, 1881. Mrs. Eidem was a life long member of the Lutheran church and worshiped with the congregation when services were held in the old log church. She leaves to mourn her loss four daughters, Mrs. Ed Hofstad of Sioux Valley, Mrs. Will Kerr of Spink, Mrs. J. B. Simonson of Spink, Mrs. L.J. Pierson of Washington state; three sons, Gilbert of Brule township, Ed of Sioux City and Sam of Montana. All were here for the funeral. The funeral was held at the South St. Paul church at one p.m. on Wednesday. Rev. Reinertson conducted the services. The remains were laid to rest in the church cemetery."
