Prebyl Sr., 82 years of age, of Beatrice, NE. passed away at the Good Samaritan Center in Beatrice Sunday evening, August 31, 2008. He was born on November 9, 1925 on a farm near Krider, NE. to Milton and Mollie (Bednar) Prebyl and lived in Beatrice most of his life. He was a 1943 graduate of Beatrice High School in Beatrice. He and Alice Henrichs were married on December 25, 1945 at Diller, NE. Calvin worked in construction and had been the owner of Prebyl Construction for over 50 years. Some of his construction projects included The Professional Building, Eagles Club, many custom built homes throughout Beatrice, and extensive remodeling projects at the Beatrice Community Hospital, Parkview Center, and The Kensington. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice; the former Elks Club; Eagles Club; and TPA, all in Beatrice. Calvin enjoyed his work, working on his farm near Diller, tractors, and polka music. Calvin is survived by his wife Alice; son Calvin D. Prebyl Jr. and wife Bonnie of Beatrice; grandchildren, Jason Prebyl and wife Chris of Omaha, Dr. Benjamin Prebyl of Alexandria, VA., and Angela Watkins and husband Brian of Lincoln; and one great granddaughter Addison Prebyl of Omaha. He was preceded in death by his parents Milton and Mollie (Bednar) Prebyl. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 5, 2008 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice with Reverend David Kramer. Reverend JoAnn Kramer, and Reverend Delmar Wiemers officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery, R. Diller, NE. The body will lie in state Thursday from 10-9:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice and at the church one hour preceding the service on Friday. A family prayer service will be held at 9:45 A.M. Friday at the church. A memorial has been established with the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Charge. Funeral services are entrusted to the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice. Memorial: A memorial has been established with the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Charge.
