Service and celebration of Calvin's life will be held at All Faiths Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 7th, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery at Loup City with military honors provided by United States Army and St. Paul American Legion Honor Guard. Calvin was born May 24, 1948, on the farm at rural Loup City, the son of Emil and Florence (Dethlefs) Glinsmann. He grew up in the Rockville and Ashton area, graduating from Ashton High School in 1965. On September 28, 1966, Calvin entered the United States Army, serving in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on September 18, 1968. Calvin was married to Kathleen Barnes and there was a son, Rodney, born to this marriage. He later married the love of his life, Cheryl Miller, in March of 2000, acquiring three stepchildren, Wade, Sandra, and Larry. He made over the road trucking his career, driving for Hillside Acres – Langreher Trucking for many years, then Mamot Trucking and lastly Dinsdale Trucking. His preferred truck was always Peterbilt, and he had a fondness for anything John Deere. Calvin's favorite pastime was spending time with his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those that will cherish his memory include his wife, Cheryl; son, Rodney Glinsmann (Kelly Ahrens) of Waco, NE; stepchildren, Sandra Spotanski and Larry Holmes, both of Grand Island; seven grandchildren, Jacob, Jayden, Jordyn, Braden, Trevis, Macy and Maulee; and four great-grandchildren, Brinley, Braxton, Joelene and Malcolm. He is also survived by brothers, Darwin Glinsmann of Kearney, Glen (Kathy) Glinsmann of Texas, and Leroy Glinsmann of St. Paul; sisters, Lois Hackbart of Florida and Diane (Ed) Hoegren of Grand Island; and sister-in-law, Esther Glinsmann. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lynn and Duane and an infant brother, Rodney; step-son, Wade Holmes; sisters-in-law, Helen Glinsmann and Dorothy Glinsmann; and brother-in-law, Darrell Hackbart.
