Lead Daily Call newspaper, September 2, 1920 - "Funeral of Carl Stonefelt. Services Will Be Held From the Swedish Church Saturday Afternoon. Funeral services for the late Carl Stonefelt will be held from the Swedish church at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, after which his body will be laid at rest in the cemetery in South Lead. Carl Stonefelt was born in Hot Springs, S.D., on April 10, 1884, so at the time of his death he was in his 26th year. During 1901 he came to Lead with his parents, where he made his home until the time of his death. He attended the Lead public schools, and was ever a favorite with his classmates and school fellows. After leaving school he was employed in the May store, working for that firm for five years, trusted and esteemd by his employer and liked by all of the patrons of the establishment. Carl was the first to be called by the selected draft in the Black Hills, and served during the war in the medical division of the army at Camp Cody, besides going through five months of drilling. During his life in Lead he had so conducted himself as to earn the esteem and respect of all who knew him, their confidence and their friendship, for he was a boy who was liked by his playmates and school fellows and a man to whom acquaintances instinctively extended their friendship. He leaves to mourn for him his father and mother, four brothers and three sisters, and to these the sympathy of many friends goes out, heartfelt and sincere. He was a member of the Homestake post American Legion, and the members of that particular organization will attend the funeral in a body." Lead Daily Call, September 3, 1920 - "Funeral services for the late Carl Stonefelt will be held from the Swedish church tomorrow afternoon at 2:30. There will be a short service held at the house at 2 o'clock prior to the services at the church." Lead Daily Call, September 8, 1920 - "Card of Thanks. We wish to extend our sincere thanks to all those who so kindly assisted us in our recent bereavement, and especially do we thank the M.W.A., the American Legion, Homestake doctors and nurses, the Ladies Aid of the Swedish Lutheran Church and all co-workers and friends.
