James E. Selander. A ladies trio composed of Mrs. Gladys Selander, Mrs. Mabel Bergman and Mrs. Martie Martens sang "Beautiful Land" and "The Eastern Gate." A solo, entitled "Sunrise Tomorrow," was sung by David Danielson. The pastor brought the message and used for his text, Psalms 116:15: "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." Interment was in the South Marion cemetery. The casket bearers were Arthur Young, Virgil Young, Oscar Young, Wendell Carlson, Eldon Westrum, Clifford Neese. Caroline Albertina Westrum, nee Bocklund, daughter of Andrew and Caroline Bocklund, was born on a farm northeast of Stratford, Dec. 20, 1875. She died in her home, following a lingering illness, Aug. 27, 1942, at the age of 66 years, 8 months, 7 days. Her entire life had been spent in and around Stratford. A devout lover of her home and dear ones, her thoughts were always of the welfare of members of her family. She was converted and baptized in 1895 and joined the local Baptist church. She became active in the various activities of the church and remained active in the church so long as her health permitted. Among the activities to which she devoted a great deal of energy and labor was the Ladies Aid Society of which organization she was a lifelong member. She was married to Nels Westrum on April 2, 1896 and of this union five children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, both parents, and a brother. Surviving are her one daughter, Mrs. Elmer Angstrom, four sons, Elmo, Ernest, Sidney and Marvin, all of Stratford. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Hilda Young, also of this community, a cousin, Olivia Lindmark, eleven grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Mother dear, you've gone and left us, In this world of grief and pain. But by faith, hope and patience, In heaven we'll meet again. We are lonesome here without you, But you're gone without recall, And the Master in His wisdom He is waiting in that city In time to come will take us all Where the saints and angels wait; And we'll meet you mother, dear, When we reach the golden gate.
