She was born Jan. 11, 1834, in the Kingdom of Saxony, in Germany. In her native place she was baptized and after due instruction confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In the year of the revolution, 1848, her parents, Henry G. Buttner and Frederika Buttner, came to the U.S. and settled in Ill. In that state the deceased sister was married twice. All of her eight children died in infancy. In 1872 she moved to Kansas, being a widow, and married one year later to Mr. George Krebs, of Bennington. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Krebs made her home in Glasco, with her sister, Mrs. Karl Horn, and lived here ever since. She was a member of our Lutheran church and attended the services regularly. She was of an amicable, optimistic disposition, having a smile and kind word for everyone. The departed sister leaves two brothers, Herman and Henry Buttner, In Illinois, and three sisters, Mrs. A. Reinhardt, in Bennington, Mrs. K. Horn, Glasco, and Mrs. H. Reinhardt, Glen Elder; furthermore 29 nephews and nieces, 15 step-grandchildren, two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. R. Schimmelpfennig in the Lutheran church and at the grave. Pall bearers were Messrs. Chas. Henning, Fred Henning, A. Aschman, P. Lampert, A. Sparwasser, W.C. Berneking.
