Tuesday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Slatinka, in Traer, after a several month illness, of cancer. Her condition was not considered serious until early this year, and on March 6 she entered the University hospital at Iowa City, where she underwent an operation on March 12. It brought only temporary relief, and after six weeks in the hospital she returned home, failing gradually until the end. Mrs. Babinat, fully conscious through the last hours of her life and realizing that she could not survive, dictated all of her own funeral arrangements, even to naming her own pall bearers. The funeral will be held at 10 a. m. today in the Immaculate Conception church of Clutier with the Rev. Father Thomas Vopatek in charge. Burial will be in the family lot in St. Vaclav cemetery, west of Clutier, beside the body of a brother, Frank Slatinka Jr., who died in 1920. The decedent, whose maiden name was Carrie Slatinka, was born in Traer on Oct. 31, 1899, and attended the local public schools. On Aug. 9, 1920, she was married to William Babinat at Clutier. The couple moved to a farm near Hudson, where they lived for five years, then they spent two years at Clutier before moving to Traer, where they have since resided. The decedent was a member of the Methodist church here, the Rebekah lodge, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Surviving, besides her husband and parents, are an adopted son, Paul James, 3 years old; and three sisters— Mrs. Joe Vojtech, Dysart; Mrs. James Cech, Grundy Center; and Mrs. Charles Vanicek, Traer.
